How Far Is Merzouga From Marrakech?
Merzouga is more than 550 km from Marrakech, so we never drive it in one go. The first day crosses the High Atlas over the Tizi n’Tichka pass, visits the kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou and Ouarzazate, and ends in the Dades Gorges (about 330 km). The second day continues through the Todra Gorges and Erfoud to the dunes of Erg Chebbi, in time for a sunset camel ride.
Return to Marrakech or Continue to Fes?
From the desert you can either come back to Marrakech by a different road, through the Draa Valley and Agdz, or continue north across the Middle Atlas to Fes. Ending in Fes is a great choice if you want to see both imperial cities without driving the same road twice.
