Desert tours from Erfoud: what to know

Our private tours from Erfoud take you to the Erg Chebbi dunes in Merzouga, the most beautiful part of the Moroccan Sahara. You travel only with your family or friends, with a local Berber driver-guide in an air-conditioned vehicle, and we pick you up at your hotel or riad. Expect a sunset camel ride, a night in a desert camp with a private bathroom, and sunrise over the dunes.

How far is Merzouga from Erfoud?

About 55 km: less than 1 hour by car. That is why even a half-day or one-night trip works well.

What will you see on the way?

Highlights include fossil workshops, the black stone desert and the first golden dunes of Erg Chebbi.

Which tour should I choose?

If you are short on time, choose the sunset tour or the overnight desert trip. With one more day you can add a 4×4 excursion to visit nomad families and hear Gnawa music in Khamlia.

When is the best time to go?

March to May and September to November have the best temperatures. Winter days are sunny but desert nights are cold; summer middays are very hot, so camel rides take place at sunset and sunrise.
