Things to do in the Merzouga desert
Merzouga Trip – Plan your Merzouga trip: private desert tours, camel treks, luxury and Berber camps, 4x4 and quad activities in Erg Chebbi with local Berber guides.
If you are already in Merzouga, or want more time in the desert, these trips take you into the Erg Chebbi dunes, from a few hours to two nights.
- Desert camps: a simple Berber camp, a luxury camp or our superior luxury camp, each tent with a private bathroom.
- Camel treks: ride into the dunes at sunset, sleep at the camp and ride back at sunrise.
- 4x4 and jeep tours: visit nomad families, hear Gnawa music in Khamlia and see the black desert, with lunch on the day tour.
- Quad and buggy: one or two hours of riding in the dunes.
- Walking: a quiet overnight walk across the dunes for those who prefer to go on foot.
Best time to go
March to May and September to November are ideal. In summer, camel rides take place at sunrise and sunset to avoid the midday heat.
