The closest airport to Merzouga is Moulay Ali Cherif Airport in Errachidia (ERH), located about 130 km from Merzouga. Other popular airports for reaching the desert include Marrakech, Fes, and Ouarzazate, depending on your tour itinerary.

The journey from Casablanca to the Erg Chebbi dunes in Merzouga is approximately 560–600 km and takes around 8 to 9 hours by car, depending on traffic, road conditions, and stops. Most travelers choose a multi-day desert tour so they can enjoy the attractions along the way.

We recommend spending at least 7 to 10 days in Morocco to experience the country's highlights without rushing. A longer trip of 10 to 14 days allows you to combine imperial cities, the Atlas Mountains, and the Sahara Desert with more time to relax and explore.
