Desert tours from Meknes: what to know

Our private tours from Meknes take you to the Erg Chebbi dunes in Merzouga, the most beautiful part of the Moroccan Sahara. You travel only with your family or friends, with a local Berber driver-guide in an air-conditioned vehicle, and we pick you up at your hotel or riad. Expect a sunset camel ride, a night in a desert camp with a private bathroom, and sunrise over the dunes.

How far is Merzouga from Meknes?

About 520 km: about 8 hours of driving. That is why we recommend at least 3 days, so you can travel without rushing and enjoy the stops.

What will you see on the way?

Highlights include Ifrane, the Azrou cedar forest, the Middle Atlas mountains, Midelt and the Ziz Valley.

Which tour should I choose?

With 3 days you see the desert and the main sights on the way. With 4 or 5 days the pace is relaxed and you get a full day in Merzouga for the 4×4 trip, the nomads and Gnawa music. Every tour can be adapted to your dates.

When is the best time to go?

March to May and September to November have the best temperatures. Winter days are sunny but desert nights are cold; summer middays are very hot, so camel rides take place at sunset and sunrise.
