Erfoud sunset desert tour

Overview:

Watching the sun set over the Erg Chebbi sea of dunes is a magical experience. Make memories for a lifetime on this private desert safari, with 2-way transfers from your Erfoud accommodation.

You’ll travel into the desert by 4WD, climb aboard your camel with the help of your camel guide, then pad through the dunes for sunset and return.

Ride a camel through the Erg Chebbi dunes to watch the sunset. Capture classic photos of the Sahara in the evening stillness. Your camel guide leads the animals for a safe and serene experience, with time-saving private 2-way transfers from your Erfoud hotel or riad.

Highlights:

A 4x4 driver collects you from your hotel or riad in Erfoud, usually between 3:00 PM and 6:00 PM, depending on the season.

Off-Road Drive: Travel through the black stone desert pavement (reg) before arriving at the massive sand dunes.

Camel Trek: Swap the Jeep for a traditional camel caravan to trek deep into the golden Erg Chebbi dunes for about an hour.

The Sunset: Climb a high dune crest to watch the sunset paint the Saharan landscape in deep oranges, pinks, and golds.

Return: Ride the camels back to your vehicle and drive back to Erfoud by dusk.

Note: You may add a dinner at the camp with Berber music for an extra fee.

The excursion starts in the afternoon from your hotel or riad in Erfoud. Our driver will pick you up. The trip takes 2 hours and a half in total.

When you arrive in the Merzouga desert, you will change the Jeep for camels and trek inside the dunes. You will then sit on the sand dunes to watch the sunset.

After enjoying the magical Sahara sunset, you will ride the camels back to the departure point, then drive the Jeep back to your accommodation in Erfoud.

After your reservation, we will send you an email with the departure time, as the sunset time is different every month.

Note: If you are more than 4 people, make two reservations so that you will have two vehicles for your comfort.
